A friend of mine is having problems, here is what he asked me

Hey,
Quick question: I am having difficulty remembering how to setup a printer on a windows 2000 pro machine so that the printer will be installed regarless of whose profile is being used.
Typically, when you install a printer it's installed and recorded in the user.dat for the user logged in. When another user logs in the printer doesn't appear to be available.
Some M$ documentation suggests that if I install the printer while logged in as Administrator of the Local Machine (not a domain if applicable) the printer should appear for anyone that logs in.
That doesn't appear to be the case (though I haven't ruled out that I would need to use a local account to have the printer show up on that local machine.
If that is the case, then if I install the printer as the Administrator of the domain, would it follow that I could use any domain account and have the printer installed?
I would much rather assign the printer object to a usergroup or an OU than to machines.
Any suggestions?
