Dual Monitor Problem

Hey,

Im using windows XP and have a GeForce 2 MX 100 and an ATI 3D Rage II+ PCI and I am trying to be able to extend my desktop. The primary monitor is at 1024x768 75Hz and the secondary should be at 800x600 60Hz. My problem is that the second monitor just stays blank. I tried switching the primary display to 800x600 60Hz so they would both be the same but the second monitor just stayed blank. The nvidia display settings DID detect another monitor so I assume the grafix card works and I know the monitor works. Is there something I am missing?

These graphics boards will function in Windows 2000 / XP , but only as PRIMARY display adapters.

So you think if I just throw another PCI video card in there it might work as a secondary?

You might wanna check XP's supported hardware first.

Is the ATi chipset onboard? If not, you could put the ATi card in the first slot and the GF2 in the second . . . this will make the ATi primary and it should work.

but the geforce 2 is AGP. No the ati is not onboard.

Ah, well, that poses a problem. I would check XP's HCL and see which one you can use.

Yes but you can use the rage as primary and use the Geforce as secondary. Go to the display properties, you should see a box that says "extend my display to this monitor" or something like that.
Select the check box and it should automatically bring up the second monitor. You can adjust the resolution after you have extended the display to the monitor.
