Radeon 7000 TV out problem

Hi,

I bought the Radeon 7000 just so I can use the TV output because I tried using the TV output form Nvidia Geforce 2 MMX

And I got bad results and I did some research and I read that ATI is better when it comes to TV output.

But after I install the Ati card I tried both of my televisions and the TV display remains disable with the RED cross over the connection, I even reinstalled a new XP in a different hard drive thinking that perhaps the old nvidia drivers were messing with the Ati... installation.

Sould I be able to turn on both the monitor and the TV when connected?

I know the S - video adapter works because I tried it with the Geforce and it seems to be working fine.

Otherwise the card works great.

I am confused could the card be bad?

Should I try a different S video adapter?

Thanks

Joel

What drivers are you using?

Actually, I think it's the oppsite...I've tried using TV out with 4..count FOUR different Radeon cards (one being my laptop adapter)...and they all produce black and white picture...this being a known problem (the problem being ATi's drivers are still HORRIBLE)...I need a "special" svideo adapter.

It's probably a driver issue...have you upgraded to the latest Catalyst drivers?

The TV not being recognized is a cabling issue. And the TV needs to be On before you power the computer system, so the ATi card BIOS can detect the connection type.

Then, b/w display is User Error, not driver problem (as usual ... but driver bashing is soooo popular and much easier than figuring stuff out, isn't it?). You're either running the wrong TV norm, or your cabling pretends to be SVideo but isn't. The latter problem is frequently seen in SVideo-to-SCART setups.

Thanks Peter M

I would need to get another adaptor, I should have done that at first because the adaptor that I have came with an Nvidia card a long time a go and I checked it out.

Plus when I unplug adn plugged it in to the TV I can see some flickering in the screen.

Another question.
Those the monitor should remain connected as well when the computer reboots with the TV because I did read somewhere that the monitor?

Thanks
needs to be disconnected

Can you make that "another question" a complete sentence please?
