For what? I think you're going to have to specify your question a little better... |

Ah, I think you mean connecting the modem (ADSL or cable?) to the PC, don't you?
What model modem is it?

Ah, that's what I thought. You want to know the better method to connect your PC to the Cable/DSL modem. Well here's my opinion:
Personally I connect to my Toshiba cable modem using Ethernet, since I've got a dedicated computer router with two network interfaces. But I don't think there's much difference between the two. The only thing I can think of is that when you're sharing the internet connection with a router I would prefer to use Ethernet over USB.

AE is correct. It really doesn't matter which one you use, as both channels will aloow quite enough bandwidth.
If you only have one ethernet card in your PC, though, and the modem connect dirctly to it (not via a router), and you might at some stage like to connect to another PC with it, then use USB.
That's really my only quilification, I think.

I've never had anything but problems when connecting my modem through USB...most people have the same problems.
Try that, but if you find yourself offline, then fixing the problem by just rebooting then use the ethernet

Then use Ethernet, since it seems to be working better.
