Kids 4800SE vs. 9500

Ok I'm on a tight budget and I'm planning on upgrading my computer 1 component at a time. First off is the videocard: I currently have a videocard running on Nvidia Geforce2 Titanium Vx 64MB DDR. I'm planning on upgrading it to either an NVidia Geforce4 Titanium 4800SE 8x 64MB or 128MB ddr or an ATI Radeon 9500 128MB DDR. Could you give me the lowdown on both these cards (benchmarks, fps, specs, etc.) and tell me in your honest opinion which is the better card.

Here are my specs:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
EPOX 8KHA+ motherboard
Apacer 256MB DDR PC2100 X 2
Seagate 40GB 7200 rpm
Seagate 20GB 5400 rpm
Liteon 52x CDROM
Liteon 40x/12x/48x CD-RW
Panasonic 1.44 MB FDD
56kbps PCI modem v.92
Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Soundcard

Lest you give me some BS about Radeon 9700 PRO or NVidia's GeforceX 5900 being better than these, let me tell you: in my `foreign country', these videocards cost a fortune The 2 videocards (GF4Ti4800 and ATI9500) are not that expensive and I need the money to upgrade my other specs. Oh yeah I'm a gamer/audiophile/PC Technician by computer user

So... bring it on

I had the same "dilemma" just recently. In the end I decided to use my current card until the prices on the 9700 PRO drop... Of course, if you are desperate for a card, don't pay for the ti4800SE (which is a tweaked ti4400), save a little money and buy a ti4200 which is definitely enough for current games. By the time Half Life 2 / Doom 3 etc arrive, the price in the higher end cards will probably have dropped anyway.

The Ti4800SE is basically a slightly more powerful and AGP 8X version of the Ti4600 (NOT the Ti4400) ...so if you want to go nVidia (which I recommend) go with a AGP 4x Ti4600

I wish I could but unfortunately the Ti4400 and 4600 has phased out - there's hardly a store in my country that sells these videocards

That's my third choice. Hmm... something to consider...

Thanks for your input guys

Your thinking of the plain 4800, the 4800SE is in fact built around the 4400 core with a 8x AGP.
The plain 4800 is a 4600 core with the 8x spec.
