Well first thing is check the bios to make sure your hd ahs been detected if not then you need to check the settings and the cables to make sure its installed correctly then you can formatt and partion using the western digital drive tools if you don't have the disk you can d/l it here http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp then someone else will have to help you from there as I know next to nothing about installing xp

edit: i'm assuming since the hd is the only thing you asked about that everything else is working fine???

Make sure that you have the hard drive set to Master and check the cable to make sure it's plugged in correctly (to the primary). Also check for bent pins.

What Windows are you trying to load? You probably need to format that hard drive 1st.

to note when you do get the drive working and are going to format it since your using win xp your better off formating it with NTFS unless your going to be dual booting with win 98

According to the computer it detects it, it says that it is in the Master Primary, it doesn't detect it when it tries to install Windows XP. Err any other suggestions? I've checked the connections a million times, they all seem to be right.
