Computer problem

I just built my computer and here is the details..

-Kingwin All Aluminum 13-Bay Mid tower Premoded case KT-436WM Black
-ASUS A7N8X Motherboard Specs BUNDLE W/ COOLING FAN & (AMD XP 3000+; KINGSTON 512MB NON-ECC PC3200)
-WD WESTERN DIGITAL "SPECIAL EDITION" 120GB 7200RPM EIDE HARD DRIVE
-ATI All-In-Wonder RADEON 9700 PRO 128MB DDR
-KingWin 450 Watts ATX UL approved Power Supply

When I go to turn on the computer from the case power button the power only goes on for 1 second. If I try to turn it on again it's just dead, I have to turn off the power supply but then it still only turns on for one second. Any idea what my problem is?

does led on motherboard come on?

sounds like the mobo is getting shorted out by the case. take it out of the case with the following plugged in:

power supply
cpu
ram
video card
and see if it POSTS.
