Win XP & ATA 133

I've had troubles with data transfer between IDE devices, Especially the HD and my CD-RW. Can Win XP handle UMDA 6 transfer rates w/o SP1 being installed ?
also, see thread HERE for further info.

sounds like a board problem...check the manufacturer's site to look for the problem to be fixed in a BIOS update (I've seen a lot of things like that in BIOS updates)

I'm wondering though, if it's a Win XP driver issue. The CD-RW spins at varying speeds when I'm loading a program to my HD. It also fluctuates rapidly, speeding up and slowing down in quick succession. I'm wondering if it might be a buffer-memory/overrun, under-run issue. The data transfer process sounds anything but smooth. And it only seems to happen when the FSB/memory timimg is set to 166/166mhz. If I leave it at 133/133, I don't seem to have problems. (I'm not overclocking it, Athlon XP 2600+ w/333Mhz FSB & DDR 2700 memory) And I do believe it may also be a BIOS issue. ECS has not updated this BIOS yet, and this board is their latest revision of this model. ECS K7S7AG rev. # 1.5
