Work old monitor dead finally?!

Here's what happend to my monitor. I was just chatting with my friend with a instant messaging program and then my monitor blanked out on me! Do you guys think that a monitor back from the mid 90's would be dead by now finally? Should i try to fix this or just get a new one? It's a Viewsonic 15-GS. My current setup is this.

soyo kt333 dragon ultra platinum
athlon xp 1800
1gb ddr pc2100
GeForce4 MX440 64MB at 1280x980 or something like that

Note: i'm on my old monitor which only supports up to 1024x768 pixels.

Try another monitor on the system...then try the possibly dead monitor in another system.

You might try it on a friends system or something then.

Bah. Just blanked out, no smell, no smoke, no light shows? hmpf I'd sent it back.
LOL! You got good life out of it, pay the disposal fee, toss it out, and get a 17" LCD.

Oh no i just plugged it back in and it works. I actually want a new monitor now. How can i actually "sabatoge" my monitor of mine? I don't want to try opening it up because i've seen those signs that it's dagnerous.

Well...I don't think you'll have a warranty anyway....but you could always break a pin or two on the VGA connector

Will taking out a few pins make the monitor come up with no picture or just make the quality of the picture a little worse?
