MOD related (Painting a Monitor)

Is it at all possible, or even a good idea, to take the casing off a monitor to paint? I'd really like to get it to match my case nicely, but am a little shaky about taking it apart to paint the housing. Any suggestions, links, or references on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks.

This goes in the PC modification forum. You can take it apart, but its easier and safer to just tape over the screen and any holes then spray away. Do touch up with a paintbrush.
