At Home Remote assistance

I currently run an IT department, and need a little advice to what is out there for software.

I need to be able to take control of a remote computer thru the internet. I want to be able to do it via a browser window. It would be something similar to webex. Unfortunately I dont have the budget to pay a monthly fee to webex. I do however have the bandwidth (DS3) and server capacity (Netserver LC2000) to setup my own service. I am wondering what software is out there that will allow me to do it.

The machines that I have to take control of are behind firewalls and NAT boxes, so VNC is out.

Thanks in advance.

RealVNC is the best program I've ever used for remote admin duties! Try it out, you can't lose and it's free... Nothing's better than that

HTH,

David

[EDIT]

Forgot to mention that it's also cross platform. Mac, Unix, Linux, Windows, Sun, Cisco, you name it they've got it. So you won't have to worry about compatibility issues. And, you can assign display numbers to each computer that you want to monitor. That way, you can be at another location, and still monitor hundreds of computers, all using one destination IP, it would be like 65.66.132.45:0, 65.66.132.45:1, 65.66.132.45:2, etc.

[/EDIT]

I have used VNC. It works great with a real internet IP address. What I am really looking for is a web app that the remote machine (over the internet) goes to a specific web site, logs in downloads a java (or similar app) that allows me to take control of the remote machine.

Like I said before Webex does exactly that, but I dont have the budget to continue to fork over a monthly fee to use it.

I would like to set up some server on my own that would perform the hosting.

Then as mentioned above the TS Web client will do pretty much what you require.
You just install it onto an IIS box, and the client will download a small activex control
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000...etins/tsac.asp
It does of course (It is MS after all) require a TS Server on the far end..
