Surf net at same time on two PC 50FT apart?

Ok this is what we need to do; we want to be able to surf the NET at the same time on two different PCs. They're about 50ft apart in seperate rooms. One has XP Pro, the other XP home edition. What is the best and or cheapest way to do it? Both of course has USB connections.

Router of course.....

Route the Computer with the main connection (computer with pre-existing internet access) with the other computer

You can do it wirelessly or wired

Your Choice

Wireless is more expensive, but less of a hassle

Buy a router hud and some cat5 wires and wire the two computers using NIC cards

Or buy a wireless router hud and a wireless USB adapter OR Wireless PCI card

Thus you now have a home network

you should beable to do it with just a cross-over cable

a cat5 cable that has the wires switched on one end, and the main machine that has the internet connection can act as a router

cross over cable about 10-20 bucks, sold by foot

I could be wrong

If I wire the two together with network cards/5 cable that won't let BOTH PCs to surf at the same time will it? Please don't tell me it's that easy. And what did I need? a router? can suggest a good one?

By the way I have DIAL-UP 56k connection. AT&T service.

The one question I havent seen is what kind of internet connection you have. If it is dialup you can use a crossover and ICS, anything else its worth buying a router. I prefer linksys myself.

If you are going Wired

A router will be placed at the Computer with the pre-exisiting internet access

You would plug the ethernet cord from the Internet Modem into the Router... This supplys the Router with an Internet Connection... Then there are 4 ports (on most routers) You can then wire up to 4 computers to this Router and share the 1 internet connection.... Simply Run a Cat5 wire from the Router to the other computers NIC card.

Wirelessly.... Practically the same but more $... but less wires.... And no NIC cards are needed

Yes... I prefer Linksys as well...

Since Wal-mart is taking over the world... You can purchase them there (Im pretty sure)

But you can buy a router and other networking supplys at any tech store (ex. Circuitcity, Bestbuy, Office Depot, etc)
