what brand were they?
i like maxtor (own 2) and wd (own 1)
one of my maxtors is over 3 years old

you could also get another like the one you have thats still good, and retry it.. how old are they?

I like Maxtors also, I do not, however, care for WD or seagate as I've had bad experiences with both more than once...just my opinion though!

New one

Yeah, but I would rather start off with two identical drives. ya know.. it is more expensive.. but more reliable.

IMO most of the name brand mfg's are about equal. I've personally had the most problems with WD, then Maxtor and the fewest with Seagate but I know people with different sucess. I'd shy away from Fujitsu etc.
