Newbie build- sound good?

i am building a computer for the first time. i have researched it and to me it looks good, but i am looking for your comments, suggestions, thoughts, etc . thanks alot

western digital 80GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer ATA/100 HDD
Lite-On 52X24x52 IDE CD-Writer
VIA P4PB Model P4X400
512 MB PC2700 Apacer RAM
GeForce 3 Ti200 64MB Tv out
Pentium 4 2.4BGHz 512K 533MHz CPU Northwood

looks good to me . might want to go with more power in the video card but looks ok . who make sthe motherboard ?

you a gamer? if so get a higher card (dont get me wrong its a nice card, but get something that wont be the bottleneck)

Welcome to TechIMO
A good MSI GF4 Ti 4200 for 124 at NewEgg would do ya pretty well.. shop around as their maybe better deals, this is just an example.

If this is primarily for office work however, that card should be fine.

well at new egg the board is listed as

as for the video card, im not much of a gamer, maybe Unreal of GTA3 sometimes. i do more with video editing. any suggestions for the video card? 64 meg upward, Tv out, and around $100. i hear good things from both ATI and gforce

I personally wouldn't go with Via, there's so much competition that there's really no point going with them because they're pretty unreliable with the systems I had... If you go with Intel, you'd definetly want to stick with Intel chipsets as they provide the utmost stability that you want from Intel.
