Holy smokes.
I never really considered a mac as an option, but geezus man, that thing rocks anything on the planet.
They rule!!
Mac really has done it again, that baby has everything on it that ya can wish for atm, SATA, Firewire 800, 1Ghz FSB
And even a seperate fsb for each cpu, this baby will kill anything you throw at it.

Don't AMD MPs also use the independant FSB for each CPU?
I also note that Apple always do comparisons with Intels systems, never with AMD systems.
That aside, the G5s are some really fancy stuff.. even the case...

I think AMD indeed uses seperate buses for their duals, but how can that even begin to touch a dual 1Ghz FSB??
I love AMD, but there is no friggin way they can even begin to touch that.
The Athlon64 prolly will bring em closer, but still not there is ya ask me.
Tho the Athlon64's clock speed is it's fsb, so that would indeed surpass that of the G5.
AMD will finally have the fastest fsb on the planet. |

the day you can run windows/linux/unix on apple's hardware, and when you can upgrade everything yourself is the day I purchase one. until then, its AMD and Intel.

-Chris | You can run Linux and Unix and Windows can be run with VirtualPC.
You can upgrade everything on an Apple except the motherboard. Apple's largely use the PC architecture.

| Sorry but emulation software just to run the OS of my choice is not my cup of tea
They do have Yellow Dog linux for the PPC though.
Until OS X grabs more of the software share, especially games, and a better distro than Yellowdog gets a port AND the software will compile without issues AND a new Mac can compete in price you won't see me with one regardless how fast they are.
This is one of the luxeries of modern PC's. I don't do anything that takes the fastest computer on the market.
As far as upgradable goes, the fact remains that you cannot build your own mac. tis a shame, but it helps keep the price high

All you people who dont like macs because of the OS and lack upgrading, you still have to admit that this new mac is cool though. |
