Shutting down problem

Hi
I am having a problem when I start my XP and a box comes up that says XP message to XP is shutting down. I did enter the Bios but I changed nothing. What's happening.

Do you mean while you are turning the computer off?
And if so do you get a program not responding error or something similar?

Shutting off problem

Thabk you for your reply. When I turn the XP on after about 20 sec I get a dialog box which says "Message fom XP to XP on 6/23/2003 and time" Then it says " The UPS Service is starting tom shut down." and in about 20 sec I am shut down.

I had a similar problem with XP. When I hooked up my "smart" UPS (Battery Backup) and went into the display settings and to screen saver then to power. I added the UPS as a generic one (it wasn't listed).

Since XP couldn't communicate with my generic UPS it kept shutting down my machine after about 30 seconds.

I had to act fast (clicking my mouse like a madman) and remove my UPS from the power options and after that I was ok.

Might want to check that.
