ICS using dial up in 2k can't see host or call on dialup

I have read the M$ KB articles on ICS and dial up, but can't get the client to call the dial up on the Host (Gateway) computer through a wireless NIC/router setup.

I looked at the settings and both are on the same domain name, both have the IP address set for automatic. ICS is enabled on the host.

The setup is:

Win 2k
Host (Gateway, tower box) wired NIC
Client (Laptop box) wireless NIC

Compaq CP-2W router.
Dial up ISP.

Host can see client, but client CAN'T see host or call up the dialup.
Dialup works from host ok.

What am I missing? Hope this makes sense.

May be try it with the laptop connected a cable. Get it working that way first, then switch to the wireless stuff. Is the Tower W2K Pro or Server? You say domain, do you have an Active Directory Domain setup? Can you give more details on your lan?

Both are 2k Pro

Don't know what a Active Directory Domain is.

Only the Laptop and the tower.

The CP-2W is a wireless broad band router used with either DSL or Cable. Usually these types of connections are always on. You don't have to "dial out". Do you actually have to dial out? What type of service do you have? What type of modem are you using?

Is sharing enabled on the connection? You might try IRC by BySoft - neat little program for dial-up networks http://www.bysoft.com/download.html .

PCI card in the Host.
The ISP is a analog dialup, not DSL or cable. Yes I have to dial out.

ICS is enabled on the host. Both boxes under dialup connection/properties/sharing are checked. If I understand correctly only the host needs that to be enabled, correct?

UPDATE........would you believe File and Printer Sharing was unchecked? I can see each other now, BUT:

If 'Show Icon on Taskbar' is unchecked for the NIC, OR 'File and Printer Sharing' is checked under the dialip properties, the dialup adapter won't autodial using Opera or Mozilla (I won't use that 'forced on you' Idiot Exploiter security hole). I have to manually start the adapter.

But, I still can't access the internet on the Laptop.

I have gone here, but the best I can do is see each box and access the dialup only throught the host. The client (Laptop) can't do it.
