Using Gaim in linux 7.3

Hello,
I have installed Gaim, but I am unable to use it as I am behind a firewall. Can anyone tell how I can use it from behind a firewall.

Regards

Chisty

Ok, which version of Linux are you using? Red Hat 7.3? And which version of Gaim are you using? And what type of firewall are you behind? Is it just a cable modem router or are you at work and behind something much more serious?

More info would be helpful.

Thanks!

That's a pretty recent version of Gaim for that version of RH - I'm impressed.

Okay, when you say that Gaim won't work what do you mean by that, i.e, you can't transfer files, can't chat, or what? With my cable modem router I can't chat or transfer files but I can talk.

I honestly have to say that I probably can't be of much help since I can't get mine to work right either here but at least with more info we'll have a chance of getting it to work.

Thanks

hello,
are you behind a proxy server or a firewall 'this port is blocked' kind of thing?

Hi!
1. I do have account for yahoo and MSN. I can log on when I use windows.

2. For yahoo messenger, I have to set the option "firewall with no proxies" on.

3. I am not allowed to send file or do audio/video conversation.

Regards
