u could try calling their support. a person i knew accidentally spilled coffee and because it was still under warranty, she sent it back and got a replacement.

I can't help you with the repair, but you can try this to make sure it's not the video adapter.

If your laptop has an external monitor output, hook it to a known good monitor, and see if it displays fine on the external monitor. If so, change it so the the laptop display and the external monitor are displayed simultaneously and if the external monitor is still fine and the laptop display is still having problems, you can be certain that the video adapter is fine.

HTH,

David

It is a bad LCD Display. I have replaced a few of these....it is very simple for an a+ certified technician....you need to get the part # from a certified tech or part store. I would do it for ya if you were close to NC, USA.

That doesn't mean it's definately a bad display. It could be the backlight going out, or it could just be the wire interface getting loose.

You might be able to find a diagram of your IBM laptop, to see how to take the screen cover off. Or, you could just look at the display half of the case and unscrew the screws that you see.

DISCLAIMER: Even though this unit is not under warranty, if you are unsure of what you're doing, have a certified tech look at it.

Thnx guys, i feel the problem is more with the backlight, for when it comes on its dim but perfect. Any ideas where i could get the diagram for opening the display? I saw ones for dell and compaq but they seem to be quite different from the ibm lappy.

Shadowguardian, sorry am far away but any tips on opening the lappy would be highly appreciated.
