Systems CPU Overheating

I have an MSI K7T Turbo 2 board running a Athlon XP 2000+ with a Volcano 9 for cooling. The darn thing runs about 33 degrees idle (with VCool running an idle loop mind you) and reaches around 65 to 68 degrees when running any new game (The Hulk, NOLF 2).
I have a Skyhawk aluminum case with 1 fan taking air from the outside and blowing it onto the proc and 1 fan mounted sideways in the middle of the case taking the hot air away. The cabling in the case is as out of the way as much as possible and doesn't seem to be affecting the airflow too much anyway as my case temps are 32 idle and 41 when the proc is at 68 for a long time.

Any thoughts on what it might be?

Full specs:
MSI K7T Turbo 2 w/ Athlon XP 2000+ (Palomino)

...Those are very high system temps...that's very likely your problem (VCool may look like it's doing a good thing by bringing down your temps, but it's not)

Get a Thermalright, Vantec 9's bite. The 2000+ is a very hot chip.

Sounds to me like you also need better airflow in the case. So you have one fan in ( front ) and one fan out ( side )?
The side fan should problably be blowin in ( straight to the vid card, cpu area ) and it is problably a good idea to have exhaust fans in the back drawing air out.

can you get a pic of the inside of the case and post it ? does teh power supply have dual fans ? like vserlnv said it sound like classic airflow problem to me . try reseating the hsf maybe it isn't on correct . what is the voltage set at for the cpu in the bios . is this system overclocked at all ?

Your temps are way too hot. AMD says keep em under 60 and its usually good to stay under 50 to be on the safe side. You might want another fan or 2, and see what happens when you disable Vcool.

EDIT: You can drop the core voltage in the BIOS. I did (have an 2000+ as well), really helped with the temps. Just drop it in the lowest increments, do stuff to make sure it doesnt lock up; if temps are still high, drop some more. Mine is undervolted by 3/4volt.
