2800+ athlon questions...

i bought a mobo (msi k7)/processor combo deal from pcboost, and i put it in and all and read up on how 2.25 is 2800.. so i kinda figured.. in my bios i needed to set fsb and multiplier to equal 2250.. right?
well, it goes up to 2133, at 185 X 11.5 (i know it doesnt = 2133. but its what i put and 2133 is what i get) and, if i go one more fsb higher, computer wont boot and i have to reset cmos with the jumper.. also, when i start my computer it says amd 2500+...
it said 2800 on the chip..
any suggestions to get it to 2250? maybe its something to do with the voltage i dunno. or is it someother number i need to get to, or is it past 2800 and im starting to destroy my computer

nathan

btw im running at around 59c is that normal?

Hi there, have you tried 166 x 13.5 or 133 x 16 ? That should be the default setting if I am not wrong (166 x 13.5).

Edited : You do have DDR 333 memory right?
also, which K7 do you have? There is about 5 different K7 motherboards

Of course if it runs just fine at higher fsb and multiplier.. all the better, but 166 x 12.5 is default

By the way based on what you told me, you have the MS-6712

Which one do you have? The Barton (2.08) or the Thoroughbred (2.25)?

Compare picts here

According to MSI's site if you set the FSB to 166 and multiplier to Auto, it will set the multiplier automatically.

When you overclock, the board is going to guess what your CPU is based on the speed...it told you 2500+ because that's what the speed was at, though it's much faster than that.

all AMD AthlonXP 2800+ processors run on a system bus of 166mhz (333mhz FSB)

You're probably fine with temperature as long as it isn't over 50c ... these newer CPUs from AMD don't get extremely hot (they're built well)...my 2600+ stays below 40c.
