Best Browser
I currently use Internet Explorer 6. I have heard many people on this board talk about other browsers. I was wondering which browsers you like and what features make you like that browser. Also, do any browsers have a Favorites system different from IE?

I'm currently using opera. I like the tabbed windows, which puts all of the sites you're visiting at the top in tabs instead of one big bar for each at the bottom like ie does. It also automatically checks your email for you and has the ability to use mouse gestures. The favrites system is a little different, but similar. I used avant before this and it used tabbed browsing also, but no mail checker. It did however, automatically stop pop-ups. (opears also has this option)

I've used IE 6 until about a week ago. I tried out Mo!Zilla Firebird. I thought, heck its free and its only a 7 meg dl (which is still a decent amount for my 56k, but not too bad). I've grown rather fond on the same tabs feature that he talked about with opera.
There plenty of skins available, and extensions that you can install to add more features. The links to all of these are included in the bookmarks by default.
Edit -
Oh yeah, the built in pop-up stopper seems to work great too. Ive never had any important popups (new windows from links) blocked, but I never get any ads either

I use both IE and Opera 7.11, the favorites system is the same. I imported my IE faves into opera and deleted all the ones that were there before, so now my opera faves look just like my IE faves.
Actually there is one difference. when you open a sub folder in your faves, its one click instead of 2, and when you want to use a fave URL, its 2 clicks instead of 1, not much of a diff....
And ohhh the tab browsing... no more 20 IE windows in the task bar, its all in 1 app....
But I stilll use IE tho, just in case =)

Phoenix/firebird. Galeon is also a nice browser but not cross platform. Mozilla (in its current form) is a hideously bloated piece of junk, can't wait till firebird takes over.

Opera is great but for this forum specifically, it's just terrible.
]For some reason, techimo pages are all HTML pages with frames. Opera is "the fastest browser on earth" because it caches much more than IE and Mozilla combined. When I look at this forum in Opera, it looks exactly the same as it did yesterday and the day before that because it's loading a cached page. Opera updates the HTML page when the HTML on the page changes but if you think about the forum, the HTML never does change; the entire site is based on frames. The frame changes but the HTML pages that contain the frame never change.
Other than viewing the techimo site, I love Opera |
