Kids Fried motherborad -- other components also damaged?

I was building my first system, and as a newbiew, made a stupid mistake of putting a 2x AGP 3.3V video card into my epox 8RDA+, which supports only 4X/8X 1.5V cards. So I fried the motherboard--curently it is in the process of being replaced.

What I would like to know is if any of my other components that were attached (CPU and memory, namley) are also damaged. Is there any chance that they are also damaged? Or is it just the board that gets damaged? Physcial inspection of each part tells me they are fine. I don't have another system on which I can try them. Any ideas, or should I just wait for the new board to come in, and then test them on the board?

That fried the mobo?? I have 2 different nForce2 boards - 1 supports anything that moves, the other only 4x/8x. Putting my old Voodoo 3000 into the picky one killed it, but putting in my 4600ti, all was good again.....
Have you tried with a compatible video card?

Thanks for the reply.

When I had put the 2X AGP in, I got the nice PVC burning plastic smell. So I knew something was burning out. I turned it off within about six seconds after turning it on.

I tried to put a compatible card afterward...but I got no display on the monitor. All the right sounds were coming out (hard drive spin, power supply fan), but no display. A friend suggested the memory may also have been damaged, but I am doubtful. It should only be the board thats damaged, right?

I agree with Omardeth;
If your memory was bad your POST beeps would let you know, try a PCI card. Heat and surge cause the most deaths to RAM and CPU, other than that most burn outs are isolated or points to your MODO. You may only just cooked your AGP Video card since the slot & card are def volts, or that smell could be the slot heating up. Try going pro 8x.
