Kids Overclocking my JIUHB...is this as far as I can go?

Here's my setup real quick:

1700+ JIUHB 0319 @ 2.2Ghz (12.5 x 177)
2x256mb of PC2700 (Crucial)
Epox 8RDA+
Cpu Voltage 1.625 MemVoltage Stock (2.63)

The system is rock stable with this setup and since adding my latest case fan (click here to read about it) I was able to drop the temps by quite a bit. With my now cooler cpu and case I figured I could try getting a little more out of this chip.

So far...I haven't. Doh. I tried for 2250 (12.5 x 180) and could not get Prime95 to run for more then 10 minutes before detecting an error. I tried bumping the voltage from 1.625 all the way up to 1.7 and still no go. Guess I should also mention that I'm running FaD as well as Prime95. Pretty good stress test don't ya think?

So here's my questions...do I just keep upping the voltage until it gets stable? It seems to me that I shouldn't have to bump it up *SO* much for only 37 more Mhz. At what point should I think about bumping up the memory voltage? I'd like to be able to get 2.3 or even 2.4...but I'm just wondering how high will I have to set the voltages and how hot is it gonna get!?

Will be looking for your replies...

you might want to take the voltage higher . bumping the memory voltage could help also . there is no real saying what it will top out at , all cpus are different . some will do more than others .

Like Omardeth said, all cpu's are diff and top out differently. I think you have topped yours.

I'd be surprised if you can't go higher. Put some juice to it.

Just remember that you don't want to raise the voltage too much to your components as too much can kill it... too much of a good thing. Have you tried lowering the multiplier to achieve a higher FSB?

Another thing, cooling your Northbridge chipset could help you attain higher overclocking stabily.

Isn't PC2700 memory only rated for 166mhz. Maybe it cant take the 180mhz.

pinoy87, that very well could be...I don't really know. lol. And I wouldn't know for sure until I pushed it a *little* too far and fried it. Same thing for my proc...I may have maxed it out...but then again I might be able to take it just a little farther...

...and I won't know for sure unless I try...

Pinoy is right about the rating, but high quality ram (crucial, corsair, ect) can usually go higher. Like you said Gouki, you wont know until you try.
