Talk Just dropped my cpu temps by 4 degrees!

And all it took was the addition of one more fan. I had heard about these newer power supplys that have 2 fans in them, one blowing out the back and the other blowing down on the proc (since most boards are setup so that the PS is almost over the cpu) and since I don't have one of these newer PS's...I decided to put a blowhole in the top of my case and mount a fan to blown down onto the cpu.

Man did it make a difference!

Here's my setup again:

Athlon XP 1700+ JIUHB 0319 @ 2.2Ghz and 45C.
2x256mb of PC2700 from Crucial
On an Epox 8RDA+

Also...with this setup my voltage is at 1.625

Guess the next thing I need to do is get a filter for the new fan...any recommendations on what kind of material to use?

I believe the fan on the underside of the power supply is an intake into the psu instead of blowing down onto the processor.

Try flipping your new fan and you should see better results.

Congrats on lowering your cpu temp! Any type of filter material will work(some better than others). You want to get a good balance between impurity trapment and air flow.

Your right on the psu. Its an additional intake. IMO, the blowhole should blow ON the cpu, not away from. I get better results that way, but my case is small. Experiment and find out for yourself.

Well like with everything, it seems there's a benefit of one thing at the cost of another.

I tried flipping the fan and there was a 1 degree difference...hotter. One degree. Not that big of a deal...the big change was the temp inside the case! By having the fan take the air out of the case, temps dropped by 3 degrees!

So currently the cpu is at 46 and the case temp is at 36.

I havent seen a psu with only one fan since I had a 200watt for AMD k-5 @166mhz. Kind of a "duh" thing.
