registry import question

if i back up the registry,then edit the registry,and after that import back the backup i saved,will the registry be back to EXACTLY the way it was? or are there some things that cant be changed with the backup being imported?

Not sure but I think that if you export all the registry and try to import later a full registry, you will get "some keys are in use, can't replace".
Under 9x, you could do it with a "regedit /C file.reg" under pure DOS but under XP, I don't know.
