Hello all.. just need to confirm something before I place my order:

The type of memory my computer currently supports is this:

DDR PC2100

• CL=2.5 • Non-parity •

The type of memory suggested to buy with my computer right now is the following:

DDR PC3200

DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Non-parity • 5ns • 2.5V • 32Meg x 64

Now you may be wondering why I'm purchasing 3200 when my current computer only supports 2100, now that's because I'm going to need this memory for my new computer.. but I'm purchasing it now so I can use it on my current computer

Now the question: Will the 3200 work with the Dell? I was told it would, the dell would just recognize it as a 2100

Anyway, thanks in advance for your responses

Does it only support up to 2100? If so then higher ram might not work. What is your motherboard you currantly have. What is your system specs.

Yes it should work, but the PC3200 will only be recognized and run as PC2100 memory.

It will work. The pc3200 is backwords compatible, so the system will just underclock it.

Okay, I installed the memory today.. my first time installing memory, was it suppose to be so hard? I thought for sure something was going to break.. but anyway, alls good now in my computer.. and ive noticed some changes from 128 ram to 384.. its a lot quicker opening applications

Question though: If i want to keep this pc3200 256mb module for my new computer.. can i have two 512mb sticks and this 256 and still have the dual channel effect?

Yes. Dual channel will still work with all memory slots full.

Yup..the best way to do that would probably be a 512mb stick in each channel (first and third slots)...then the 256mb stick in the second slot, which is part of the first channel...you probably won't need more than 1gb of memory though
