Yet another A7N8X Barton problem

I've just built a new PC with Coolmaster case, Enermax 460W PSU, A7N8X Delux rev 2.00 board, XP3000+ Barton, 3 off Corsair XMS3200LL 512 Mb PC3200 400MHz RAM, Matrox Parhelia-512 AGPX4 video card and some other stuff.
It runs fine except for the following:
1) The BIOS splash (POST) screen is scrambled, but subsequent pages are OK. This means I can't see what the board thinks it's equipped with, BIOS level etc.
2) All indications (ASUS Probe and a 3rd party system test SW) are that it's only running at 1300MHz, Any attempts to change settings in the BIOS and it won't boot, I have to remove the battery and start again.
Any ideas on either of these?

Thanks, it was running BIOS level 1002, now it's up to 1005.
That has speeded things up by a factor of 1.66, Asus Probe now shows the CPU running at 2166MHz instad of 1300. I presume that this is the "real" clock speed rather than AMD's "Pentium equivalent". Is this what everyone else gets with this chip?
The only reason I'm confused is that Asus Probe claims that the maximum speed is 3000MHz

On the other hans,

The BIOS splash screen is still a mess, but it's a differnt mess !
Different colours and a different pattern of smudges.

Thanks Omardeth, I'll do that and post the result here.
Just a thought, could it be that the BIOS thinks, initialy, the Parhelia is an AGP8X graphics card, when, of course, it's AGP4X?
I might try Matrox's site as well.

that could be have you loaded up the most current drivers for it ?
i am wondering if the chipset drivers are fighting with the video card drivers . moatrox isn't really a common video card . that could be the problem also .

IF is it a Matrox problem , you might try MURC Forums.

The BIOS screen problem wouldn't be a driver issue...it doesn't need drivers then.

Try replacing the video card with another and seeing if it does the same thing...if not then it's either a bad card, or just not supported well on the board.
