more graphic card indecision!!!

hi - i recently posted a message on what graphics card to get and most said that the ati 9700 was the best one to get but its a bit out of my price range as i dont wanna go over £100 ($167) (does anyone know of a card in that price bracket thats better than the geforce4 ti4200)

i am considering bidding on these geforce4 ti's on e-bay -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....&category=27387

or this

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....item=2737231404

but i dont know if its a good make (are there any that are better than others) or overpriced - any help would be appreciated

and also does anyone know of good places to look other than e-bay for graphics cards (i live in england) as i dont know where to look at all.

also if i did get an ati 9700 it says that it needs its own power supply - how difficult would it be to install for a novice.

thnx
matt

For $160, dont get anything less than a ATI 9500. Paying that much for a ti4200 is outrageous.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM, i ordered a ti from them and i recieved the wrong item and they're techinical support and customer service sucks, and not only that but you they don't even have an 800 number so you either pay long distance, or take the long process time through email, i recommend you dont order from them, thats my 2 cents.

Get a Radeon 9500 pro if you can afford it.. a little tweaking will make it a 9700 pro..

Otherwise the normal 9500 is a good card, and my mate has a leadtek ti4200 128mb 8xagp, they crank pretty good aswell..

ti4200 cost less than the 9500 pros by about 40$ or more . and the 9500 benches only 1-3% better . so the increase in proformance isn't really worth the extra money in my book , but thats my opinion . for me the best bang for the buck is the ti4200 , unless you have the money for the 9700 or better then i would go that way .

The main diff omardeth is the DX9 stuff. They may bench the same in 3dmark2k1, but throw 2k3 at them and you will see the diff real quick.
