You downloaded the wrong file You should get a .tar.bz2

ok i copied it over, but this is what the directions say
manual install:
copy the contents of setup.data/image to the directory where you want to
install ts2. Then edit the "teamspeak" script. replace %installdir% with
the directory where you installed teamspeak to.
so how do i edit it? is there some sort of program or something?

Depending on your distribution If you are in X you can use a program like gedit or kedit which are similar to notepad.
If you are stuck at a CLI you may have pico or nano which are both very easy to use. Other than that you may have to use vim or emacs, both harder to use.

i used kedit to change the information, but now how do i run the program? when i click on the icon that i edit it says
could not find the program "teamspeak"
manual install:
copy the contents of setup.data/image to the directory where you want to
install ts2. Then edit the "teamspeak" script. replace %installdir% with
the directory where you installed teamspeak to.
Enjoy!
The readme doesnt give much indication other than saying enjoy. Sorry for the dumb questions, i hate being a noob.

open up a cli and naviagte to the ts2_client_rc2_2029 directory and issue this command
./setup.sh
This will execute the setup.sh file which will hopefully launch the GUI installer

Well, I'm using Mandrake 9.1.
In Gnome all I have to do is double-click on the setup.sh file. (it has an icon with a cog over a sheet of paper)
Ditto in KDE (the file has an icon that looks like a seashell over a sheet of paper)
If you still want to run it by typing in a command you need to have a terminal open in the right directory.
