MS Word Formatting Problem

Hi

I've got a really irritating |_ (L-shaped) lines on each corner of the page in Microsoft Word XP in gray colour, and they are still there in print preview mode.

How do I get rid of them? I've tried looking through all the options, formatting and border dialogs, but I haven't seen a way.

Thank you.

I've never had those lines there before, so there must be a way to get rid of them. Here's a screenshot:

What version? This might just be a place marker for the text borders. But it doesn't actually print, right?

It's Office XP, word XP. The markers show on print preview, so I'm assuming they print. However, that's not the point - they are really irritating, I just want to get rid of them!

Not sure if you checked but you might check in the View Dialog Box.

It looks like somehow it was added under borders and shading is it only on this document or on all documents?

I've checked the view dialog and all other options on word, but couldn't find anything. I may have missed something, but I can't find it. I've looked under borders and shading. It comes up on all documents - but only on those opened on my computer.

I do not have Office XP so I can only go by Office 2000 and 97.
There is only one more thing that I can think of and that is if your default template for new documents has been altered. Each time you open a new document Word references a file named normal.dot This is the defalt template for new documents.Do a seach for that file, open it and see what it looks like, it may well have the borders you are referring to. If so make one with out the borders and save it as normal.dot.
I had this problem once with my daughters Word program. Let us know if this works.

Send a message via AIM to Gait_Keeper
print something to se if it prints too.

I know you don't want to se it ever again, but knowing if it prints or not will eliminate some things on the path to a solution
