Buy a new computer

Is it cost effective to buy a computer right now?

I know AMD has tons of new chips coming out. VIA has their KT600 coming out.

I was thinking about building a new rig and selling mine, but I don't want to build something brand new and then TONS of ne technology comes out the next week and now my stuff is dirt-cheap.

I know this is the story of ANYONE who builds a computer, but is right now a REALLY bad time build one?

Thanks

Well, in my opinion. With that kind of thought, you could never buy a any hardware. With technology changing so often, it's very hard to wait since it willl change again when you make up your mind to make the purchase... IMHO..

that's why my cheap Dell system cost $500.00 with a gig of ram. Why spend $3k+ on a system that will be old in a couple of months. I am running a P4 2ghz and it is awesome (compaired to the P3 800mhz I ran for a couple of years).

Ditto that, I NEVER check the prices after I buy something, I'm not into unneeded stress or self pity!
