Giga 7nn400 pro/raid/winxp sp1

Hello~

2 sticks of kingston 512 mb pc 2700
2 WD 80gb 8mb cache
Gigabyte 7nn400 pro
XP2700+
ATI Radeon 4x AGP card (my 9500 was DOA)
Vantec Aeroflow heatsink
Antec Smartpower 400 watt
Antec (Chief) Case

Im currently trying to get XP loaded onto my Raid Array (2*80GB WD HD) I'm loading up from the CD-ROM and hitting F6 at the requested time to install third party SCSI /RAID drivers. I insert the drivers and keep getting an error 18 message something about D:/xpsp1/boot/base yadda yadda (im at work and dont remember the exact error message).

The WD floppy mentions that I need to run the LIfeGuard Data tools when I install the disk. Is this my problem? Do I need to format and partition the drives before I try and get the Raid drivers working for XP?

Also, I tried running the WD Lifeguard and it couldnt find the two drives ( most likely because they were on IDE 3 and 4) So does this mean that I need to run them on IDE1 one at a time and partition and format? Or is there some way to do it on IDE3 and 4?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get RAID up and running for the first time ever.

*Edit - No jumpers on either Hard Drive, one hard drive per IDE channel (3 and 4)

I find it best to install 2k/xp/2k3 on a normal IDE channel then raiding the drive. Posibly back it up onto an old HDD ,install the raid driver, then copy to the striped raid array.
