Zalman zm-mfc 1 with Thermaltake Smart Cas Fans II

Hey all,

Have any of you hooked up a Zalman ZM-MFC 1 Multi Fan Speed Controller with ThermalTake Smart Case Fans II.

I wanted to hook up my four case fans (all ThermalTake Smart Case Fans to the four adjustable channels but noted this controller has a max power requirement of 7 W/each channel. The fans have a power input from 2.4 W (@1300 rpm) - 8.4 W (@4800 rpm).

I wanted to hook them up with Function 1 only (no hookup of temp. sensor or adjustable speed controller) for each of the fans, then using the adjustable channels on the ZM-MFC 1 to control the fans.

I wasn't going to hook-up temperature sensor function for any of the fans which would of kicked up the fan to 4800 rpm (@8.4 W) at 55 C.

Do you think I will have problems? Has anyone experimented with this controller?

Aren't rheostats built to withstand 1.5 times max rating?

Todd

No problems at all, after installation. Works perfectly.

This controller works flawless, and looks great in my blue case. Blue LED's and blue faceplate. Four Thermaltake Smart Fans II hooked into the four rotary controls, and CPU fan - Y.S. Tech Tip Magnetic Fan on one of the 12V/5V/off toggle switches.

LED's above rotary dials increase with intensity as rpm rises. LED above toggle switches is red with 12V and blue with 5V.

The short Metal side support panels are very flimsy, and bend easily. Installation is simple with supplied 3 pin extensions.

Now, fan noise is minumal at lowest setting on rotary dials (~1900 rpm) with each of the ThermalTake Smart fans. Running the Y.S. Tech fan at 5V is virtually inaudible.

Overall excellent addition to system. I'm happy.
