GoodDay
I'm writing here cos'i noticed this first when i was installing redhat8.0,and cos *nux people are more skilled in HDD stuff.
I had a 80GigMAXTOR ATA133 HDD, old story.
It was a EXTERNALHDD WITH usb P&Psupport
it was sold from 'NEW-NOTION.corp', and the manual said plug USB and drop files.
I was inpressed with the politeness of them formating the 80G harddisk, and as a fool, i made a 18GB database on this HDD.
(The avobe things are all happining in FAT32)
Now, as normal, i defraged the disk, scan, etc, then fips/(or your flaiviour of disk partitioning tool) to create or devide this chunck of fat32 to 2 partition, then change one as ext3 to install linux(i know, actually to 5 or so, but to make the story short).
bios is set to LBA, everythiing was good, untill fips gave me the face that i didn't have a partition on this hdd.(I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HDD WITH OUT PARTITION, OPERATING A FILE SYSTEM).
So as the saying, i went back to windows and - fdisk -5 ...this also gives me that i don't have any partition, while windows api falsly gives me that i have a vaild 76Gig/18+GigUsed FAT32 FILESYSTEM.
seems like i have created a file system of empty space(I mean with no sectors.)
I do have a 30G HDD spare to temporary transfer the data, but this gives some problems, but that is for another time.
To Dear mighty *nix users, with your knowledge, would there be any way to create a partition, or recover a partition, and is there any one who has this kind of trouble? Tkanks for all, and the penguin
