Systems Mother Board Dead? Rescue for - ASUS p2b-f

GoodDay
I have some trouble with booting up a ASUS P2B-F motherboard.

The story here is pritty much same to 'Mr ybos''s,
http://www.techimo.com/forum/t68490.html

and the two power supplys i tested are both brand new.
C-MOS clear tested as well.

System Spec is P2 400MHZ,128MB,GforsceMX 400 64MB VidioCard,IDE HDD 30GB,CD-R drive(liteonit),OEM CD-ROM,some external USB card, ISA sound card,and 350W Power.

I have tested all the compornets (HDD,FDD,PSU,CD-R,CD-ROM,VEDIO,EXT-USB,SOUNDCARD) expect for CPU and MEMORY,and the suspected motherboard. tested all possible things in my position, but they all work extreamly well expect when they are togather.

I don't have a system to test the CPU,and the motherboard ,so...

Few things to mention, the old PSU hsa been hit by a lightning, destroyinh the modem,PSU worked(survived) untill now(2002).

when this computer was brought to con****computer(I will reviele the name-it's in brisbane.) for repair, they said the computer broke cau'se of CD-Burning.

(yes the system did brake down when it was cd-burning), and replaced the Vedio card(That's logically 'strange' ).

and the system still didn't work...this is the story untill it came into my hand... When Looked in case, things were quite messed up(guess the conrepair guy...), as 5v 2 pin connection was connected to cd-rom(the owners said it didn't work...ahh,this is why) jumperpin(the Master/Slave selecting things), the core speed was set to x6 (this system is P2-400MHz),virus infected in the hdd by kazak thingy's, and there might be more things that are stuffed but i can't find it.

hdd was cleaned, core speed jumper was set back to x4, C-mos clear, but the motherboard still dosen't work.

More pasifically, boot screen dosen't show up(Vidio IS alive, but no message or anything like that.)
does give some kind of beep from the system speaker but i don't know what the beep is for.
Could any one help me?

Thanks, if any one can help me.
and good luck to your computer as well, ybos
Sory for Looong message :/ - Thank's, have a nice day

If you could tell how many beeps and what type of bios it is that might help...First thing to do is to strip down everything but the essentials. Cpu ram and video card if there is no onboard. Check to make sure the cpu is seated correctly especially since it sounds like things have been tinkered with. Recheck the multiplier settings check the ram settings and reseat the ram. Clear the cmos maybe even take the abttery out and leave it out for ahile.

You may also try taking the mobo out and placing it on a book or something that will keep it fromm grounding, as it might be grounding in the case. Sounds odd but try to boot it with a floppy attached some boards require one. And can cause this same problem.

hope the ideas help keep us posted on your outcome maybe someone can some up with siome other ideas

Are any of the capacitors on the motherboard leaking or bulging? I think the P2B-F might be old enough to worry about that (there was a bad batch of capacitors a bunch of motherboard companies used)
