I am currently running a Windows NT 4.0 domain and I am planning on upgrading to Windows 2k.
During the migration we are also migrating our Novell box which is the main file and print server and houses the main user accounts to Windows 2000.
I planned to upgrade to member servers first and leave the PDC and BDC alone. The PDC will be replaced with new hardware.
When I migrated the Novell box I would make the new Win2k box the first DC.
My question is - can I do that? Or do I have to upgrade the NT 4.0 PDC first since it is an existing domain? I could install NT 4.0 on the new W2k box as a BDC and promote it to the PDC and then install W2k.
Just thought I would post a message to see what kind of ideas you guys had.
