any good email clients for linux?

hey,
im having a hard time setting up mutt .
and downloading evolution
i use debian/sid so, the reason why im doing that is i need an email client, that send u a notification of someone reads ur email.
usually i used to do that by adding
.confirm.to after the email address.
since its not free. then it sucks.
if anyone can point out some easy to use email clients and have that feature please let me know
or on how to configure mutt.
i generated .muttrc using this address
http://mutt.netliberte.org/
but it keeps telling me that /var/email/user is not a mailbox
what do do?

http://kmail.kde.org/features.html

That's what I use to use (KMail), I liked it.

As for /var/email/user not being a mailbox, try changing it to /var/mail/*username*

Very nice, if you've used netscapes mail program, you'll like this one more.
Sylpheed is the one I use. I don't know how user friendly it is considered to be, as I have some pretty odd notions in that area, but it is X based and works great.

btw. no one answered the question i asked earlier. about getting an email notification after the recieptant reads the email
i searched alot, seems that it can't work.
the only way i know is adding .confirm.to after the email. anyone knows anything about this?

Evolution, Kmail and Sylpheed are all good. Try them all and pick one.

Personally, I use Evolution.

i've tried evolution, but it balks with my school's imap4 server. not sure why, honestly. right now i use mozilla mail to access my school's email, which is on imap (i don't use any client for my regular email, since it's pop3 and i want that to go into my outlook in xp).

Another vote for sylpheed, although evolution is nice if you are looking for more of an outlook clone.

Regards

KMail sends receipt requests: http://docs.kde.org/en/3.1/kdenetwor...r-options-menu

Evolution doesn't: http://support.ximian.com/cgi-bin/xi...cGFnZT0x&p_li=

I still prefer Evolution though.

I use kmail because I use KDE and because I like its interface the best (it's the most like the old classic Eudora Light I used to love but with much needed features like a spellchecker).

A quick recommendation: use kmail if you're using KDE as your desktop, and evolution if you're using gnome.

Why? Because kmail is KDE integrated and will do better when you've already got it's shared libraries open etc, and evolution is Gnome integrated and will do better when you're running Gnome.

IMO

I use Mutt. Graet client IMO, very slow load times, and I can use it when SSHed into any of my boxes. I'm not sure how to do the recipient notification thing, but maybe if you check www.mutt.org and look in their documentation you might be able to find out. If you need a sample .muttrc file, I can give you one. I've got in /etc/skel on my server that I use for all new users. Only two lines of modification required and it runs great.
