Word 2002 Product Key

I bought a Gateway computer. The hard drive went south. They sent me a new hard drive but it only had the OS loaded. I am having to load all tha applications.

I have the Works 2002 cd (that came with the system(but they were preloaded on the old drive)). Unfortunetly, when GW sent me the new harddrive, they did not load the Word 2002.

I have the cd's but not the product key. I was told to call GW and they would give me an Emergency generic key. But GW did not have one for Works or Word 200s, so they gave me the MS number to get it.

I called that number and it was a fax.

I used aida32 and tried the os key but that did not work.

Does anyone know how to get the key? I just do not think it is fair for me to have to buy a new application when their hard drive went bad in the first place.

Call Gateway back and tell them you don't appreciate being handed off to a fax machine.

Tell them (nicely) exactly what you put in your post. It shouldn't be up to you to scramble around to find product keys for software that came preloaded on one of their PCs.
