DPA's OC'ing expedition pt. 2
ahh, the holy glowing box from newegg flew in the door at 3PM today. i just now finished throwing everything together, and organizing the old beast. turns out that every single slot opening in the back of my PC is now full, this certainly is turning into a workstation.
anyhoo, COME ALL YE 8RDA+ THUG MASTERS i am in need of some help
i can get my AIUHB 2400+ to 166 FSB and up to 13.5 multiplier before i run in to some vicious bios problems and boot failures. I have gotten codes (C1, C3, 41, and some others) i jumped my core voltage up to 1.700 when i take the FSB to 166 so that i circumvent the possibility for instability. i cannot get my multiplier up over 13.5, nor my FSB over 166.
whats the deal here? my RAM is some MUSHKIN Enhanced PC2700, and the mobo an 8rda+.
can you guys gimme some settings to put in place for the advanced chipset options page in the bios... i want to compare and contrast what you guys have.
current OC is 2000MHz -> 2250MHz [13.5@166MHz]
cpu voltage= 1.700
DDR voltage= default 2.66
agp voltage= default 1.5
i would like this thing to gun up to 3000+ or at least 2800+ if at all possible.
thanks a bunch!

When you say you can't set it to over 166 MHz FSB, is it not stable or working past 166, or are there no other FSB options past 166? If the settings are unavailable, then all you have to do is change the value in system performance from optimal to expert, and you should have access to FSB adjustments up to 2hundred-something in 1 MHz increments.
First thing, figure out whether or not it's the RAM holding you back. Knock the multiplier down a couple notches, then slowly raise the FSB as high as the RAM will let you, then if instability occurs, up the RAM voltage, or relax the timings. I'm not entirely positive, but I'm thinking the chip is not recognizing multipliers over 13.5, so that may be why you cannot set it higher.
Once you figured out your highest stable FSB for the RAM, all you have to do is figure out how high your CPU will actually go. Up the multiplier a half step at a time and test for stability. You could try giving it more juice. What kind of temps are you getting on the CPU under load? I have my 2800+ barton at 2400 MHz at 1.85 Vcore, but it is watercooled, so I get full load temps of around 37-42 Celcius, depending on ambient temps.

im not fully sure on full load temps, i just now got up and fully running after troubleshooting quite a few problems. [My God im seeing things in my window, like reflections in the side of my sight, but when i look, they're gone. but they keep coming back... must get sleeeeep...]
ill check out the true power of the ram here when i can get some sleep back in my system, painting the house has really wiped me out.
I had figured out all the expert mode and the 1MHz increment timings, but i just wanted to see what others had for their settings, IE cpu thermal whatchamacallit.
idle my computer runs about 45C, so im guessing ill hit about 52 max load, as was true on my other motherboard.

I have the same memory as you, and I get memory test failed if I try to go even 1 past 166 fsb. I know it is pc2700, but I expected some OCability

alright, i dropped my multiplier from 15 to 10, and took my FSB up to 200MHz. i was very amazed that my cpu/ram could take that kind of abuse. However, every time i pass up 2250MHz, i never can make it to windows, usually a pause error, or a protection error.
right now i have 183MHz FSB and a multiplier of 12 resulting in 2.21GHz
effectively, i have turned my 2400+ into a 2600+ with some insano bandwidth to boot.
one last question, what is the CPU thermal throttling? and what setting should i have it on?
