Install Questions

I am trying to instal windows 95 on a reformatted machine. The HD is completely blank. What do I need to do?? Will it work if I just drop the CD in the CDROM?

Thanks for all your help

No you will have to do a little more than that...but it's still easy.

Follow this link to the point beyond where it mentions formatting your hard drive, everything is pretty much the same for Win 98 & 95.

If you have any specific questions, post em up and we'll help you out!

You may need a Floppy boot disk.

One thing to note: If you're installing the original (i.e. not the OSR2 editions) of Win95, when using fdisk, select the option for large disk support to "N" (no).
Enabling large disk support installs the FAT32 file system which is not supported in Win95 original. Selecting "no" uses FAT16, which can only "see" hard disks up to 2GB.
If your HD is >2GB you'll need to use fdisk to create an extended partition to cover the remaining space on your HD (with further logical partitions if the remaining space is still >2GB).
