Ink Cartridge for Epson C80

Help!!

I have a Epson Stylus C80 printer and can't seem to find a generic cartridge the will last more than 2 weeks, printing a maximum of 20 text pages [I don't print much].

The OEM cartridge lasted over 6 months and Printed at least 100 + pages of text and some photographs. At first I thought the cartridges were leaking but could find no evidence of it.

I contact the seller of the generic cartridge and they said the first was possibly defective and replaced it at no charge. The second cartridge has done the same thing.

I don't know what the chemical content of the ink is but is it possible that the ink has just evaporated into thin air?

I think this is a possibility as the OEM cartridge had two hold down clips, front and rear vs. the generic cartridge had only the front hold down latch which looks like the cartridge isn't seated properly.

Is the problem the printer, the installer of the cartridge [me] or is these generic cartridges life span just 2 weeks, 20 pages, or which ever occurs first.

If anyone could suggest a 'fix' or let me know where a generic cartridge can be found that has the 2 hold down latch would be appreciated .

Thanks,

Larry

Hmm I don't exactly have a solution for you, but..

I own the C80, love it by the way, maybe you should just stick to the OEM's; I personally won't use anything but them. And if you keep having issues with these replacements you won't end up saving any money in the long run. Just a thought.

Also what vendor did you get the ink from, I assume that you got this online. I've heard carrotink.com is prety good.

Hi PSU2Fan.

Thanks for the reply. Carrot's Ink is one of the suppliers. They are the one that replaced the cartridge.

You are probably right about using OEM, I just like anyone else, is trying to save a couple of $$$ but looks like the generic is a very poor investment.

I was sure that other C80 owners would have a source. Perhaps the Cartridge makers just havn't caught on to the requirement.

My Epson experience shows the OE inkpots are your best bet, *especially when you want accurate color in what you print...
