RAID Channels ???

Hello,

What's the deal with RAID channels? I never quite understood what they meant. Like can a 2 channel RAID card only support 2 RAID 0 drives? What if I want to put like 3 or 4 drives in a RAID 0 array?

Thanks.

Thanks, I understand the concepts of RAID already, but I am unsure about specific configuration features, such as channels and number of drives per channel.

What about cards that have 2 channels but state that they support 4 drives in RAID 0?

I'm interested in running 3 drives in RAID 0.

Send a message via AIM to Siliconjunkie
The channels have nothing to do with RAID, just IDE.

Ahhh.... So I can buy a 2 channel card and make a big fat 4 drive RAID 0 array?

Also, any opinions on either Promise or Silicon Image RAID controllers?
