Systems PC don't boot - probably mother board issue???

I have a P4-2GHZ, 512 MB RAM, on ECS P4S5A/DX mother board. Running Win2000. This PC worked fine for ~9 months now since I initially built it.

After my last reboot the PC does not come up anymore and I get a blue screen with stop error message 0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I've tried various things including changing HD's, IDE cables, playing with the BIOS - but nothing. I even took a working HD from my other PC and installed it in the troubled one and I get the same error message.

I suspect that I have an issue with the IDE controller on the board, but would be happy to get other advices before I take it of the PC into the store...

Any help would be appericiated! Thanks!

Welcome to TechIMO.

Have you looked in BIOS to make sure your 1st boot device is set to the HD (usually "0")?

To meese: Yes, I've looked all over the MS support web - they mostly indicate about a corupted boot sector in the HD - but the HD works just fine in the other computer

To woodbutcher: Yes, it does starting to boot from the HD, after the win2000 startup page is up, I get the blue screen

Thanks

Here is another MS KB article related to XP, but may give some good info, and another from a different forum:

Have you tried moving your HD over to the other IDE? Have you tried clearing your CMOS? Just throwing out thoughts.

Yes, tried both things: cleared the CMOS and tried the other IDE - both didn't help...
