Norton Internet Security 2002 Updates

I got norton internet security bundled with my computer with 3 months of updates. Now they want $35.00 for the next year.
Are there any free anti-virus and firewall programs that work as well?
What about zone alarm? Any advice or opinion will be greatly appreciated.

Zone Alarm and AVG from Grisoft are probably you're best bets.


(Sometimes you can get around the yearly fee from Norton by simply uninstalling, then reinstalling the proggy. But you didn't hear that from me. LOL!)

While there are free apps out there, I have had issues with them, and so tend to stick to the more expensive (pay for) apps, such as Norton. I have so few issues in comparison.
Stability, protection are the main issues I suffered in the land of the free....

Atomic - that is one of the most pointless posts I have seen in a while... I do not remember this question being asked in a while!! (compared to OC & ATI/Nvidia battles anywaY!!
