AMD Duron unlock / overclock

Right..

I have old AMD Duron 900 processor and Asus A7S333 motherboard.

MoBo has been set to jumper free mode. In BIOS I can change automatically CPU speed to 900 or 1200mhz or manually chance multiplier and bus speed. Computer works fine on 900 (as it should) but when I change speed to 1200 it doesn't even start.

I have unlocked CPU by reconnecting L1 bridges with pencil.

Where i can ensure that my unlocking has been succesfully completed? Cos bios overclocking options were available before unlocking.

WHat type of heatsink and fan are you using? If the CPU overheats, it simply won't work.
Also, when overclocking, you must do it bit by bit, checking stability rather than giving a CPU a 133% OC.
Try it at 950, or at most 975/1000 for the first increment.

The 950s used the older core on the Durons. I would not expect it to run @ 1200. a 1gig Duron uses the Morgan core, which I would expect to overclock that high.

As was already stated, do it in increments. If the temp is reasonable, then throw some more voltage at it to see if it will go a bit higher. However, I wouldn't expect that chip to overclock much, you might have a good one, but if I had to guess I'd say 1050-1100 might be your max at best.

Good to hear - that is not a bad OC for something like that Duron!!

There is no voltage mod on that board.

I remember when I got a new mobo for the xp that hasn't come in yet so I put my 1gig duron on it. When I fired it up thinking that the mobo defaults to 100fsb it started at 133fsb. Wow, I thought, look at it flying and loaded up sandra. 1.33ghz?? Whoops. I went into the bios and reset it to 100fsb.

You could up the voltage if you can do that. I have ran a 950 duron at 1238 stable as can be. any more is unstable.

yeah, if you could up the voltage that would be great. Any overclock with that board is an accomplishment in istself. ASUS initially marketed that board stating there was a voltage setting in the BIOS. I bought that board and to my surprise, nothing of the such. I was however able to overclock my processor a little bit but knew I needed to get another board if I wanted to CO further. Great board though for the price and the average user?
