Making a VCD.
I am trying tons of different ways and processes of making a VCD. I have a few avi files that would be awsome to put on a VCD, if I could get them to fit on one disk.
When I make a VCD (I'm currently using TMPGnc as I found it to be very easy) is there a way to FORCE it to fit on one CD? I know vcd has to be in a specific format and bitrate and all that, but is it still possible to chnage some of the settings to make the file smaller?
Thanks
EDIT: Using two CD's is fine, except when he file is 709MB. Wasting a CD for 9MB seems really useless.

You can cut the video at the beginning or ending credits to save 9MB. All of your VCD help can be found at ...well... www.vcdhelp.com . It's a great site with tutorials and links to freeware.

You don't even need to cut it. It's very easy to make the video compress or expand to fit the exact size of a CD. Use the "project wizard" in TMPGEnc. There is specific instructions at that vcdhelp link Dave gave ya.

The project wizard doesn't have a place to specify how large the file should be. At least, not that I have found. Instead, TMPGEnc has a screen where you tell it what Kind of media you are using, and it tells you if it will fit.
Thx Daveleau, I will try taht link out. As for cutting the credits or something off. I did that already. the file WAS 743. Cutting the credits off made it 709MB.

If you have a large file that you're tring to fit onto one disk then you'd adjust the "% of disk capacity" till it fits. But if you're making smaller files then you can just adjust the estimated file size to make whatever size file you wish.
see attached.

Here is a link to the specific guide telling how to make a movie fit on a single cd. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/84759.php
you can skip down the the tmpegenc section, as you are not ripping a dvd.

Before starting the project wizard, open the "unlock" settings.
