Kids 9700 or 9800 Pro?

Okay guys, need some opinions here.

I was going to get the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, but all of the reviews that I've seen for it show that it isn't that much of a performance increase from the 9700 Pro.

Do you think its worth the extra money? I've currently got a GF3 but want to upgrade for the upcoming beauties (HL2, Dues Ex2, etc...) The 9700 runs around $500CDN, while the 9800 is $650.

Do you guys think the 9800 would make that much of differance for the upcoming games to justify the extra cash?

Thanks for any thoughts, Fred

9700 Pro is a better buy, unless you like all the eye candy. IE, AF, AA, high resolutions etc. If there's a Best Buy around, I just came back from them before, and they have the ATI BBA 9700 Pro for $250 USD.

i would say get the 9700 also the difference isn't all that much in performance but the cost is . also i would say WAIT to buy till those games you want to play come up . if the games don't hit the market for months i would surely wait. the price of the video card's will SURELY come down by then ... if what you have works well then wait . you will be pissed if you get a 9700 now and when the games that come out , that use the features of the 9700, and the cards are 50$ cheaper .

It's a funny thing how my GF2PRO still plays everything rock solid at a decent resolution.

I'm looking at a 9700NP in a few weeks when I build a new PC.

Ah, as much as I hate not spending money, I think Omardeth is prob right, wait till Sept or so, when the new games start coming out.... Dang my GF3 for playing all the current games okay....

Besides, maybe the next next generation cards will be out by then
