Reluctant Touch Pad

Hey, I have a gateway 450 S notebook with the synaptics touch pad. The touch pad has a rocker in the middle with an up and down button. THe buttons are programmable and I had them configured to scroll the current window. However, after a while, the Synaptics configuration program forgets the setting for those two buttons. Whenever this happens, I go into the program and select the desired options, but as soon as I press OK and the program closes, the options are forgotten. Help me out, this is a real pain in the arse.

I have a Gateway 450X notebook and was having the same problem. All I did was uninstall it and then put the drivers cd in that came with the computer and reinstalled the Synaptics thing. Worked like a charm. Havn't had any problems since.
