webbased email server

hey all,
got an email server setup and running, using mailenable
It's free for pop3, and it's working great.
I would like to have a webbased interface for this. The version from them cost $175 which is pretty pricey for something just for fun and my family.

Anyone know of any free or lower cost web interfaces?
Any experience with any?
I've seen some for 30 or so, but not ones with demos or way to check them out, and would like any opinions before I do.
It's a 2k server running the email, so it can be either asp or php based(or both as I saw one)
thanks,
dragonb

Tough order to fill. I looked and looked and found nothing for Windows. Linux is a different story. There's a few options there. I wanted to stay with Windows, so I ponied up the cash for MailEnable Pro.

If you decide to go the Linux route, check out SME Server. It pretty much sets itself up and it has a webserver, mail server, webmail, IMAP, firewall, and Samba. And it's free.

thanks, at least it validates that I couldn't find anything either.
Looks like we are all in about the same boat.
I guess I might grab a package that gives you the routines to access the pop3 stuff and write the GUI stuff myself. Or, go the linux route, but that means another machine which I have, but then I have to find a place for it near the DSL connection.
thanks,
dragonb

SME looks pretty promising, thanks for the link. especially good for me, not that proficient at linux, but might know enough to be dangerous.
